about

Professor Kliq, otherwise known as Mike Else, has been making music for over a decade. Raised on 80's and 90's electro-pop, house and, most of all, big beat, he started writing various forms of electronic music beginning at age 13 with his first Casio keyboard and a tape recorder. Slowly but surely, training himself to play piano by ear and developing full pieces, his dream maintains an everlasting becoming-into-reality.

With influences ranging from trip-hop DJ's like Krush, Shadow and Cam to more experimental artists like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, he combines these modern elements with his music theory trainting and upbringing listening to jazz and electronic music. Music has always been in his blood: His grandfather, Sir John, was a vibraphonist and pianist that played with Gene Krupa and Tony Bennett, while his uncle, John Jeffrey, was a jobbing pianist, bass player and Doctorate of Computer Sciences at Elmhurst college.

Professor Kliq now plays with bands and other DJ's around the Chicago area. A proponent of the Creative Commons, he distributes all his music without exception for free under a CC license from his website. He describes the Commons as "a huge, vast, and never-ending world of creativity, full of people just like me – people who invested themselves in their art for arts’ sake."

The artist's albums in chronological order of release include The Scientific Method, Our Universe, Guns Blazin', The Scientific Method Vol.2, and Movements. There are also videos available to view and download on his site of live sets at The Elbow Room in Lakeview, Chicago. Kliq has remarked that his IWADON compilation offering, a remix of the ending theme from Ninja Warriors, is "the most Professor Kliq I've sounded since 2005."

The Scientific Method, Our Universe, Guns Blazin', The Scientific Method Vol.2, そして Movements。
