about

Ebi1000's "East Breaks in Thousand Anima Breaks EP," debuted at the May 2009 Music MediaMix Market event. The artist's game arrangement album incorporates the six-second "Amen break" sample, the Wilhelm scream of breakbeat, in four assorted game themes. Since the brief drum solo was performed in 1969 by Gregory Cylvester "G. C." Coleman in the song "Amen, Brother," it has miraculously touched innumerable drum-and-bass and hip-hop recordings since the advent of sampling. The drummer's regularity makes the performance particularly conducive to remixing.

While appearing at Yokohama’s Osanbashi Hall for the 23rd M3 event, the founder of East Breaks in Thousand commenting on the process behind the Anima Breaks EP. "The end theme from Front Mission is a favorite of mine," says Ebi1000 of his EP, "but I couldn't find anyone to arrange it, so I went ahead and did it myself." The track sees "Within Living Memory," Noriko Matsueda's melancholic lament for a war-torn battlefield, arranged for piano and strings, swiftly transitioning into a mechanically sped-up drum solo. Other arrangements on the album include the Password theme from Mega Man 2.

At the May 2010 M3, East Breaks in Thousand debuted the Animus Breaks EP, including ab remixes of Legend of Mana, Dragon Quest, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. Samples can be heard on the artist's website. On the IWADON Ttribute Album, Ebi1000 provides a breakbeat remix of the Game Over theme from Pocky & Rocky. The track appeared in the compilation by www.nkrn.net, together with a breakbeat remix of the shrine theme from Dragon Quest III.
