IWADON is a tribute to game composer Hiroyuki Iwatsuki by Game Music 4 All, in collaboration with the Nobuooo.com site staff, and is streaming on iwadon.com. "Iwadon" is the handle used by Iwatsuki on twitter and last.fm, and it was how he was credited on the staff rolls of his early games. The musician, based in Nagoya, Japan, has been writing music for the Natsume videogame company for 20 years. This compilation, debuting on the artist's 40th birthday, includes arrangements in various styles from musicians located all over the world. The project also includes liner notes in English and Japanese.

The main theme to IWADON is arranged and performed by Mutherpluckin' B, a cover artist based in Uppsala, Sweden. The classic rock cover revisits the password theme from 8-bit NES title Chaos World, among the first compositions in Iwatsuki's career in games. An original soundtrack album for the role-playing title was published in 1991 on the Tokuma Japan label, featuring two tracks by Iwatsuki, arranged by co-composer Iku Mizutani. Iwatsuki has mentioned in interviews that Mizutani was a vital supportive figure early in his career.

The soundtrack for an 8-bit Nintendo game with memorable melodies, Chaos World was a natural choice to arrange for Mutherpluckin’ B. The artist released his first collection of NES covers, entitled "Sex, Drugs and Nintendo" in 2004, featuring renditions of background music from Mega Man, Duck Tales and Gun.Smoke. It was followed in 2005 by "Nintendosploitation," an album in the style of '60s & 70’s funk rock.

In 2009, Mutherpluckin' B collaborated on one track with hip-hop artist Random (aka Mega Ran) for Mega Ran 9, a remix album officially licensed by Capcom USA. The same year "8-Bit Democracy" saw a release, this time covering classic game themes in a Led Zeppelin-inspired classic rock style. The Socialist Edition of the album can be downloaded for free, while the Capitalist Edition is available for purchase, together with additional tracks, via the musician’s official website. IWADONはGame Music 4 Allが、その２０年間に及ぶナツメゲームの音楽に貢献したゲーム作曲家岩月博之氏を讃えるトリビュートアルバムである。世界中のアーティストがそれぞれ独自のスタイルでアレンジをしたコンピレーションアルバムで、英語と日本語によるライナーノーツも備えている。IWADONは岩月氏が自身のツイッターで使用しているハンドルネームであり、彼が参加した初期のゲームにクレジットとして記された名前でもある。

アルバムのメインテーマ曲はスウェーデンはウプサラのカバーアーティスト、Mutherpluckin'Bによる作曲および演奏。このクラシックなロックアレンジは岩月氏のゲームキャリアの中でも初の曲の一つであるファミコンの『カオスワールド』からのパスワードの曲を再訪したものである。このロールプレイングゲームのオリジナルのサントラアルバムはレーベル徳間ジャパンから、共作者の水谷郁氏のアレンジによる２曲も含め1991年にリリースされた。水谷氏は彼の初期のキャリアにとって重要な存在だったと岩月氏は語る。

8ビットのファミコンゲームからのサントラは記憶に残るメロディーが多く、カオスワールドをカバーすることはMutherpluckin'Bにとってとても自然な事だった。２００４年、初めてのファミコンカバーのコレクションSex, Drugs and Nintendoをリリース、『ロックマン』『わんぱくダック夢冒険 Duck Tales』『ガンスモーク』らのキャッチーなメロディーをとりあげ演奏した。翌2005年には６０年代、７０年代のファンクロックスタイルを使ったアルバムNintendosploitationをリリース。

２００９年には、ヒップ・ホップアーティストのRandomとMega Ran 9でコラボ。そのアレンジアルバムはカプコンUSAにて公式にライセンスを受けている。また同じ年、8-Bit Democracyをリリース。今回はレッドツェッペリンのようなクラシックロック的なスタイルで昔のゲーム曲をカバーしている。socialist版のアルバムは無料でダウンロード可能。一方Capitalist版は追加トラックを含め彼の公式サイトにて購入ができる。またロックマン４からの曲ダイブマンステージSky Diver Inside Herをカバーしたプロモビデオもユーチューブで見ることができる。
